Treehouse is a new kind way of living

One for people who value community over status, who see success as a shared idea. We are for these people and have designed a new kind of home for shared living.

How it Works

Flats & Studios

Everyone at Treehouse gets their own private bedroom and bathroom with extensive soundproofing and their own thermostat.

Private or Shared Kitchen

Residents in studios have private kitchens, while residents in flats share a kitchen with two to four flatmates.

Community Events & Dinners

Events are included. Residents get together for Sunday dinners, yoga on the roof, movie night, and anything else we create together.

Community Spaces

All of our buildings have spaces to eat together, to have friends over or throw an event, and to get things done.

Utilities & WiFi Included

Utilities and WiFi are included. Free laundry too.

Fully Furnished

Each unit includes a Serta mattress, platform bed with storage, nightstand, desk or daybed, and closet. Kitchens are fully stocked with cookware and kitchenware.

Treehouse App

View and RSVP to events, communicate with other residents, create maintenance and cleaning orders, and pay rent.

We Clean the Kitchens

In shared kitchens, we stock paper towels, soap, trash bags, dish soap, cleaning products, and laundry detergent plus periodic deep cleaning.

Treehouse is more affordable than a nearby studio

Living at Treehouse is more affordable than the average modern studio apartment in the same neighborhood. We provide a lot of things that a traditional apartment doesn’t. In order to compare the two, we split our monthly price into a base rent and a community fee.

The community fee is set to match what most people spend on utilities, WiFi, and furniture in a traditional apartment each month, but offers residents much more. For $210 the community fee also covers dinner every Sunday, free yoga, and other events to bring the community together.

Watch Our Story of Community

Treehouse is run by and for its community

Community isn’t something you can buy. It’s something that we create, together.

The Treehouse community belongs to its residents. Residents review applicants to join the community, and pick their flatmates to ensure that everyone is in a place that feels right. Once we’re together, leases at Treehouse are at least a year long, so there is time to build meaningful relationships.

Programming and events are run by and for the community. Weekly Sunday dinners are planned and executed by teams who decide whether they want to cook or order in, and we provide support and the budget. Our event schedule is similarly supported and curated by the community manager, but driven by the residents.

The community spaces at Treehouse belong to the residents. Just like any other home, residents can use their space to relax, have friends over, or host an event. Some spaces can be reserved in advance, while others are always open.

Treehouse is creating a sustainable way of living that is responsible to both the planet and the people that live on it.
Environmental Benefits

Treehouse is creating a sustainable way of living that is responsible to both the planet and the people that live on it. Living with a balance of community and private space means:

SAVING ENERGY
We use less per person on heat, cooling, and lighting

MORE FORESTS, LESS MINING
We use less construction material per person

PRESERVING WILD PLACES
We live together instead of sprawling apart and use less land per person

LESS CLIMATE CHANGE
Every Treehouse is built near jobs, transit, and entertainment so it’s easier to drive less

No, but we like to respect people’s sleeping hours. Flatmates can agree upon their own personal quiet times within their flat.

Most of our bedrooms are designed for one. Some bedrooms are designed for two, with extra closet space and a queen sized bed that is easy to get into from both sides. Children are never limited.

Absolutely! We host gatherings for all incoming residents to meet one another and pick their flatmates.

If you are applying with friends, a partner, or family members please make sure to list their name(s) on your application.

The community fee is part of the rent and is set to match what most individuals spend on utilities, WiFi, and furniture in a traditional apartment each month, but offers residents much more. The community fee also covers dinner every Sunday, free yoga, speaker series, and other events to bring the community together. Each person more than five years old needs to pay the $210 community fee each month. See the about page for more info on what’s included at Treehouse.

One of our most frequently asked questions is whether our shared flats allow for pets. . The answer? If your flatmates are into your furry friend, so are we! . Inspired by: The provocative nature of the "DPDR" project, conceived by set designer, furniture maker and 3D artist Tom Hancocks. . "DPDR" sheds light on the internal conflict of designers over what truly informs design and the fine balance between form and function. . This furniture rendering shows lounge chairs highly aestheticized with shiny materials. This digital design has then been printed and cut-out, therefore removing any true #function, and placing itself at the extreme end of a purely visual experience. . Thoughts? We'd love to hear them in the comments below! . 📸| @tom.hancocks 📝| @trendland . #TreehouseColive #Coliving #FormvsFunction #Design ...

Meet another #KindHuman from our Treehouse community: Ariel Lawrence (@arielnikolle). . As the Procurement Manager for Treehouse, she makes sense of the details - tracking every custom furniture piece and every one-of-a-kind find - ensuring that our first location matches the vision. . We asked her for thoughts on kindness and she shared the beautiful words below in response: . "Kindness is complex. It is the moment that another human can see you. Kindness allows you to see another human’s mind, heart and soul at work. . Kindness is calculated. It detects our vulnerabilities and affirms that we are simply human. It is a response to the complexity of our thoughts. It celebrates our imperfections and eases our weighty burdens. It is the unwavering belief that within each of us, inherent goodness is nesting. . Kindness is a humble spirit. It has no need for acknowledgement yet yearns for reciprocity. It is abundant. It knows no bounds. It colors outside of the lines as though shapes are a foreign concept. It may observe its own reflection with unfamiliarity, but is compelled to push through each day earnestly. It is extravagant in thought and subtle in action. . It is the precise moment when understanding meets compassion. It feathers our deepest intentions to be better people. Always. It is an ever-manifesting source of evolution. It is rooted in liberation and it is the force that yokes one soul to the next." . #TreehouseColive #HumanKind #Community #ANewKind ...
