Treehouse is a new kind way of living

One for people who value community over status, who see success as a shared idea. We are for these people and have designed a new kind of home for shared living.

How it Works

Private Bedroom & Bathroom

Everyone at Treehouse gets their own private bedroom and bathroom with extensive soundproofing and their own thermostat.

Private or Shared Kitchen

Residents in studio units have private kitchens, while residents in private bedrooms share a kitchen with two to four flatmates.

Events & Sunday Dinners

Community dinners every Sunday are on us. Events are included as well, including rooftop yoga, speaker series, and live music.

Free Coffee

Private cafe with free coffee for all residents.

Community Spaces

All of our buildings have spaces to eat together, to have friends over or throw an event, and to get things done.

Utilities & WiFi Included

Utilities and WiFi are included. Free laundry too.

Fully Furnished

Each unit includes a Serta mattress, platform bed with storage, nightstand, desk or daybed, and closet. Kitchens are fully stocked with cookware and kitchenware.

Treehouse App

View and RSVP to events, communicate with other residents, create maintenance and cleaning orders, and pay rent.

We Clean the Kitchens

In shared kitchens, we stock paper towels, soap, trash bags, dish soap, cleaning products, and laundry detergent plus periodic deep cleaning.

Treehouse is more affordable than a nearby studio

Living at Treehouse is more affordable than the average modern studio apartment in the same neighborhood. We provide a lot of things that a traditional apartment doesn’t. In order to compare the two, we split our monthly price into a base rent and a community fee.

The community fee is set to match what most people spend on utilities, WiFi, and furniture in a traditional apartment each month, but offers residents much more. For $210 the community fee also covers dinner every Sunday, coffee, free yoga, and other events to bring the community together.

Watch Our Story of Community

Treehouse is run by and for its community

Community isn’t something you can buy. It’s something that we create, together.

The Treehouse community belongs to its residents. Residents review and select applicants to move in, and residents pick their flatmates to ensure that everyone is in a place that feels right. Once we’re together, leases at Treehouse are at least a year long, so there is time to build meaningful relationships.

Programming and events are run by and for the community. Weekly Sunday dinners are planned and executed by teams of five who decide whether they want to cook or order in, and we provide support and the budget. Our event schedule is similarly supported and curated by the community manager, but driven by the residents.

The community spaces at Treehouse belong to the residents. Just like any other home, residents can use their space to relax, have friends over, or host an event. Some spaces can be reserved in advance, while others are always open.

Treehouse is creating a sustainable way of living that is responsible to both the planet and the people that live on it.
Environmental Benefits

Treehouse is creating a sustainable way of living that is responsible to both the planet and the people that live on it. Living with a balance of community and private space means:

SAVING ENERGY
We use less per person on heat, cooling, and lighting

MORE FORESTS, LESS MINING
We use less construction material per person

PRESERVING WILD PLACES
We live together instead of sprawling apart and use less land per person

LESS CLIMATE CHANGE
Every Treehouse is built near jobs, transit, and entertainment so it’s easier to drive less

No, but we like to respect people’s sleeping hours. Flatmates can agree upon their own personal quiet times within their flat.

Most of our bedrooms are designed for one adult. Some bedrooms are designed for two adults, with extra closet space and a bed that is easy to get into from both sides. Children don’t count toward those limits.

The community fee is part of the rent and is set to match what most individuals spend on utilities, WiFi, and furniture in a traditional apartment each month, but offers residents much more. The community fee also covers dinner every Sunday, free coffee, free yoga, and other events to bring the community together. Each person more than five years old needs to pay the $210 community fee each month. See the about page for more info on what’s included at Treehouse.

Absolutely! We host gatherings for all incoming residents to meet one another and pick their flatmates.

If you are applying with friends, a partner, or family members please make sure to list their name(s) on your application.

Meet #KindHuman number 31, Joe Green (@Joekgreen). . Joe is an active advocate of #mindfulness and building positive connections through community. At Causes, NationBuilder, and FWD.us, he's helped to develop technology that supports community organizing efforts. As the board chair of the non-profit @or_halev, he works to build community around mindfulness and Jewish spirituality. . A self-proclaimed 'Los Angeles enthusiast' and someone who truly loves to bring people together, it's no surprise that he is a co-founder of Treehouse: a home designed for community, opening October 1st in Hollywood! Here are a few words from Joe regarding human connectivity and his intention behind creating a new kind of #home: . “In America, money buys you isolation. The more you have, the bigger your backyard, the further you are from intimate moments like these that speak to the power of a shared humanity and human connectivity. Moving forward in my life, this experience shaped how I view and value community, and I applied this to a community that had influenced me in a powerful way. After many trips to Israel to study meditation, I organized my first silent meditation retreat. What began as a week-long retreat evolved into an annual tradition and a community of practice focused on Jewish meditation. Building this tribe, and the beauty I’ve found within it, lies at the core of why I am excited to help create Treehouse – for within a strong, purposeful community is a place that people as individuals and as a group can find balance, peace, and strength.” . #Treehouse #Coliving #CommunityLiving #HumanKind #ComingSoon ...
